Book Review: Percy Jackson: The Lightning Theif

Have you even gone to a movie and then just had to read the book? (I know for me it is usually the other way around, I read the book then want to see the movie). I know most of the time the movie doesn't compare, but in this case I think they did a good job of keeping the spirit of the book (while changing a lot of details and leaving out a major character in the book). I picked up this book and barely put it down until I finished it. I finished it in less than 24 hours (I was up until 2 am because I just couldn't wait to see how it ended). I knew it was going to feel resolved but not over, because I know there are 3 other books in the series, because Emma has read them all. I loved reading about this modern day hero with ties to ancient Greek mythology. I know so little about the Greek Gods, now I want to make a chart to see who they all are and who their children and spouses are. It was fascinating. It has been so fun to discuss all of this with Emma, she has such a memory for characters and plot, I never remember those things. I can't wait to read the rest.
