Birding

Having such mild weather here, we are luxuriously spoiled by being able to be outside most of the year. This weekend was no exception. The city recreation department sponsored a bird festival. There were all kinds of activities for the family, including walks and field trips. Brian took the kids down early in the day and they made bird houses and bird feeders and got their own home improvement apron....they had so much fun! The best part.....it was all free! Later in the afternoon Brian and the kids went on a walk and learned about what some of the winter birds are here and what plants attract or protect the local birds. They had a fabulous time! I did not participate in these activities with them, because I was spending some time with my mom. I missed out on spending time with them, but enjoyed the time with my mom. Here is a picture of my little builders (ugh! my 5 year old with a hammer?!?).

We went down there too. That was Kurt's store that was doing the bird houses and giving away the aprons. If you ever need another apron let me know, we have like 12 of them! Good for painting or cooking with mom though. We were kinda bummed about the bird festival. We went later though and were hoping to see some cool birds. We didn't see much but some displays. ?? But Kaylee loves her birdfeeder that now hangs in our front yard. :)
