Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I so wish I could give this book more than 5 stars. For me, often times, the second book in a trilogy is kind of like a middle child (no offense to you middle children out there), it is absolutely essential, and in some ways more important than it's siblings, however it doesn't quite know where it fits sometimes. That is so not true of this book. I liked it even better than The Hunger Games, it's older sibling. The story is growning and evolving with ever interensting twists and turns. The main character has grown and matured but in some ways hasn't chaged at all. You will find yourself more torn in this book as to which way you want Katniss to turn. It's a nail biting, on the edge of your seat, looking out between your fingers as you cover your eyes, rubbernecking the accident kind of book. The August due date of the baby of the family, Mockingjay, cannot come soon enough. I don't know what I would do if I had to endure all eleven and a half of this pregnancy. I can't wait to read the next one! *parental advisory* the theme of the book is a bit tragic and gruesome it has been compared to the gladiator days of the Roman Empire, so beware if you have young children reading it.
