Las Vegas

We have lived 2 hours away from Las Vegas for 15 months now and had never been there with the kids, and so we decided that on the 10th of October we were going to take the kids down there.  We each had something we wanted to do while we were there.  Emma & Nathan both wanted to visit FAO Schwartz (the giant toy store), and M&M World.  I wanted to go to the Flea Market.  Brian wanted to go to the Tandy Leather Outlet for gourd making supplies.  We all wanted to go to The Bass Pro Shop.  We made it all those places, and were we ever worn out.

The kids (and the parents) really liked M&M World.  It was a lot of fun.  Las Vegas is a dirty and yucky place for the most part, but we managed to have fun.  Somehow we managed not to take our cameras into Bass Pro Shop, and I’m sad.  It was probably my favorite stop during the day.  We enjoyed all there was to see in there as well as the cool salt water aquarium in the casino just outside.  We had a fun day, and are looking forward to going back again the first weekend in December to stay overnight.  Last time Brian & I were in Vegas, it was during the family friendly push, and it really wasn’t that awful (maybe I had rose colored glasses, because we didn’t have any kids then),  now that their slogan is “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”, it is just NOT  a nice place to be.  There is not a pleasant spirit on “The Strip” (in fact it was downright evil feeling), but we plan on staying away from there next time we go down.    We will be cheering my brother-in-law on as he runs the Las Vegas Marathon!
