A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I have read Khaled Hosseini's other book, the Kite Runner and really enjoyed it. There was one really hard to read scene in it, but the rest of the book pivoted on it. This book had many scenes that were difficult for me to read, and comprehend. I cannot believe the devastation that Afganistan has gone through. I cannot believe the way these people's lives, especially the women's, have been devastated, and yet they persevere. I was appalled that the women in this book were treated as chattle, yet I know that things like this have every day in every country, including my own. I have said before, I love historical fiction, I love to learn. This book was very interesting and the characters very well developed. I love the "heroines" of this book and the way they persevered despite their horrible conditions. I would recommend this book.

I really liked this book. I read it while my brother was serving in Afghanistan. It made it more interesting to me thinking about how he was over there helping those wonderful Afghans that deserve so much after all they have been through at the hands of the Taliban. BTW...I fixed the 5 to a 4 on my generation picture. Thanks! I really need to go to bed. Hahaha!
